Hot-gluin' fool!

Since I've recently acquired a hot glue gun (it was my Mamaw Jones'), I've been desperate for things to hot-glue/craft. My last project was the sushi magnets, and that was a couple of weeks ago. So I went through my many junk drawers and found something I got when I was 16. A string of rhinestones that was originally purchased to spruce up my prom heels. I think they were purchased at Hancock Fabrics for about 6 bucks at the time. I've had the extra strands for all these years, and never had anything to put them on. Until last night. Heh heh heh.

My daughter has a plain black headband that she sometimes wears when she's tired of her other ones. They're kind of necessary right now because she took it upon herself to cut her own hair 4 days before the start of this school year, so headbands are a must until her hair grows back out.

Anyway, the headband is just plain black, with polyester (I think?) covering it. It's not hard plastic on the outside is what I mean. So I put 2 and 2 together and thought, "Hey, these rhinestones would be PERFECT for that. So I measured and cut the extra strands I had so they'd fit on the headband, and went to town with my hot-glue gun. Ooooohweeeee!!!

Here is what I had to work with.

And this is the finished product.

I haven't gotten any pics of her wearing it yet, but she LOVED it! Now, to find something else to hot glue.. Lol.

Sushi magnets.

A few weeks ago my sister bought me a pack of erasers that were shaped like sushi. And I loooove all things sushi.I knew I'd never use them to erase with cuz that'd just ruin them, but didn't want to stick them in a drawer somewhere either. So I decided to turn them into fully-functioning members of my refrigerator magnet society. Lol. Here's the before pic.

Cute, right?! I love them! But there's no way I was gonna ruin them by erasing. So here's the after pic.

It's amazing what you can do with a hot glue gun and some leftover magnet pieces. I adore these little cuties!

I hope this inspires y'all to go out and eat some sushi.

Eat up, y'all!

S'mores dip.

Some of you may or may not know, but there's a Vine of S'mores dip and how to make it circulating the internet. The video is short, but perfect. Very enticing. I watched the 10-second clip, (or however long it is) and needed desperately to make the stuff. So I googled the recipe.

It calls for milk chocolate chips, milk, and marshmallows. How freakin hard could it be, right?

SO. I bought a round cake pan to make the stuff in, so that I could do the double boiler method. I didn't wanna take a chance on scorching one of my good pans OR the chocolate. Plus, it's less mess since the recipe says to heat the ingredients in a pan, then transfer them to a baking dish for finishing touches. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients
-1 cup milk chocolate chips
-1 1/4 cups marshmallows, divided
2 Tbsp milk
Graham crackers
Saucepan
Oven-safe dish
Spatula

Directions

Preheat Broiler.

Melt the chocolate chips in a saucepan big enough for all the ingredients. Then add your milk. Stir until it's mixed well. Then add 1 cup of your marshmallows. Mix everything together over medium heat until melted and smooth. Using a rubber spatula, pour the mixture into a small casserole/baking dish. Top with remaining marshmallows.

Place dish under broiler for approximately 60 seconds, or until the top starts to brown. Watch carefully because the marshmallows will burn if left in for too long.

Dip your graham crackers, and enjoy!

Seems easy enough, right? Practically idiot proof, right? Not for me, Miss I'll-just-wing-it-and-it'll-turn-out-fine. I followed the directions, but here's where I fucked up: I added ALL the marshmallows. Didn't save any for the topping. So my 'dip' turned into fudge. It was decent for about 5 minutes after I took it out of the oven. Then, it was way too hard to dip with graham crackers. This is what I get for not reading the recipe before I jumped in. Instances like this are why my Papaw Housley used to call me Speedy.

I also think my round cake pan was much too big for such a small recipe. I probably should have either doubled it, or used something smaller. Trial and error. Whatever. It ended up sitting in the fridge for a week before I finally tossed it. I'll do better next time, I promise. Buuuttt here are the pics. At least it looked good.

As you can see, we had to scrape it out of the pan to eat it. It's supposed to be dippable. It definitely wasn't.

But I will be trying it again. Thinking about doing this as a dessert on Thanksgiving. We'll see. I'll post my success pics when I do, though. I wont mess it up next time.

Cascade Platinum pacs

A couple weeks ago I got a sample in the mail ( I can't remember from where, maybe P&G?) of Cascade Platinum Pacs. There were two in the package. Now, I'm not a fan of using my dishwasher because I have OCD when it comes to my dishes being clean, and my dishwasher just doesn't cut it, so I hand wash my dishes. I have tried Finish gel pacs in the past, and they just didn't get anything clean, so I've got a lot of them left, just sitting under my kitchen sink. What an idiot I am to buy them in bulk without even trying them first.

Anyway!

I figured I'd give the Cascade pacs a chance, so I used one of the samples I got.

MAN!

They're awesome. On the underside is powdered soap, but on the top of the pac there are little swirls of liquid soap. They made my dishes sparkle, with no spots! I love 'em.

So I sent the BF out to buy me some, and he came home with some that were slightly different than my sample, but I think the only difference was that they were lemon scented. Not a big deal. They still work.

However, they're a little pricey. So some days, I still hand wash my dishes. And I use Dawn for that.

So eat up, y'all! And get them dishes dirty! Lol.

Sheila G's Brownie Brittle

So a while back I signed up for Swaggable, and it's similar to Influenster because you get to try products for free, and write reviews about them. It took a little while before they sent me anything, but I have recieved my first product from them. Sheila G's Brownie Brittle in chocolate chip flavor.

I gotta say, it was pretty good. Even the kids loved it. It's like eating JUST the edges of a brownie, but it's more uniform in size and shape. They're like little crispy cookies packed with the chocolatey goodness of a brownie. They're very light and airy, like a cracker, only way better. I recieved two bags of these to sample and review. I don't know how they were able to fit so many chocolate chips in such a thin, crispy cookie, but they did. I love 'em!!

If you're interested in trying them for yourself, you may want to order them from BrownieBrittle.com because I haven't seen them in any stores yet, and trust me, I've looked.

Eat up, y'all!

Let me explain..

I feel like the worst blogger ever. I'm so sorry y'all. I been tied up with some heavy stuff. I wont go into detail, but I will say that the local media can't seem to keep my dirty laundry out of their newspaper. Also, I'm having issues with someone from my past trying to kick me when I'm down with threats of court dates (even though there aren't any). But I'm dealing with it. What's done is done, and can't be undone. Gotta move on.

With that being said, I'm gonna try to get some stuff posted today. I HAVE to do a review of my Rimmel #StayMatte voxbox from Influenster. I'm putting some other stuff first, but I will get to it. I promise.

Halloween is almost here! Y'all ready?! hehehe!! I've been ready since September. Lol.

Anyway, here goes.

Eat up, y'all!

Forced Hiatus.

I should really be ashamed of myself. We haven't had internet for about a week, so I haven't been able to post ANYTHING online at all. However, there's a lady that lives a street over from me whose wifi is unsecured so I'm connected to her right now.

I apologize for not posting. I've missed blogging! But I've got some pretty good stuff coming. Product reviews, recipes I plan to try, and of course photos. I'm thinking about including all the freebies I get in the mail on here too. Just a thought.

Speaking of freebies, is anyone else out there taking advantage of Kroger's freebie friday digital coupon downloads? I do this EVERY friday. I have two kroger cards for my personal use, plus my mom's kroger card. Last Friday the coupon was for free bold lunchmeat from Hillshire Farms. So with all the kroger cards, I got two packages for myself, and one for my mom. This coming Friday, they've got some kind of bottled juice drink for kids. If you aren't already taking advantage of this, YOU NEED TO!! I've gotten some really amazing products from Freebie Friday.

That's all for now. I will have normal internet back on Friday.

Eat up, y'all!
